First Script
- First Script is a benefit management system designed exclusively for workers’ compensation.
- First Script is a voluntary program which represents a new benefit for USDA injured workers that provides a more efficient way to obtain prescriptions, durable medical equipment (DME) and medical imaging for their work-related injuries.
- First Script provides a nationwide network of pharmacies as well as a mail order program.
- In addition to over 6,000 DME and Medical Imaging Providers Prescription Process – Initial Injury
- Employee experiences traumatic injury – obtains prescription from doctor
- Employee takes prescription and First Script CA-1 Form distributed to employee by their Supervisor to retail pharmacy in First Script’s net work
- First Fill – no out of pocket costs for the injured employee, First Script Pays the pharmacy directly
- Claim accepted by OWCP- First Script bills DOL electronically
- Claim denied by OWCP - First Script absorbs the cost
DME & Medical Imaging Process – Initial Injury
- Employee experiences traumatic injury – obtains prescription from doctor for Durable Medical Equipment and/or Medical Imaging
- Employee calls First Script’s help desk to coordinate delivery of Durable Medical Equipment and/or to schedule Medical Imaging Tests

- First Fill – no out of pocket costs for the injured employee, First Script pays the provider directly
- Claim accepted by OWCP – First Script bills DOL electronically
- Claim denied by OWCP - First Script absorbs the cost
Existing Injury
- First Script identifies injured workers based on USDA/OWCP data
- Eligible injured workers will receive by mail:
- Injured worker communication letter
- Personalized workers’ compensation benefit card
- Information received will identify the three closest pharmacies to the injured worker based on their address
- In addition to the First Script Help Desk number for scheduling the injured workers’ DME and Medical Imaging needs
- Injured worker takes their prescription benefit card to their local pharmacy and their work-related prescriptions are processed by First Script
- Injured worker calls the First Script help desk to schedule their DME and Medical Imaging needs
