Who We Are
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Finance Center (NFC) is an Office of Personnel Management (OPM)-certified Shared Service Center (SSC). We provide bi-weekly payroll and human resources management services to other Federal Government Agencies.
With over 50 years of experience, our customer base includes Agencies such as the Department of Treasury, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce, Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, as well as congressional offices such as the U. S. General Accounting Office, Congressional Budget Office, Library of Congress, and Architect of the Capitol.
NFC operates under the leadership of the USDA’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, which is responsible for the financial leadership of business operations comprising more than 100,000 employees, 14,000 offices and field locations, $208 billion in assets, and $143 billion in annual spending. NFC services more than 170 diverse Agencies and provides payroll services to more than 600,000 Federal employees. NFC core operations are in New Orleans, Louisiana.
NFC offers a modern, cost-effective, standardized, interoperable suite of solutions to provide the core functionality required to strategically manage human capital. Within these solutions, NFC provides an array of system options to meet human resource processing needs.
Beginning in the early 1960’s, USDA operated a centralized payroll and personnel system. In 1972, USDA established a centralized voucher and invoice processing center, and in 1973, these organizations merged to become NFC in New Orleans east.
