INQUIRY 21-01, Personal Benefits Statement

Published: March 31, 2021
Effective: Pay Period 06, 2021

Summary

The 2020 Personal Benefits Statement, referred to herein as the Benefits Statement, is now available for employees electronically through the Employee Personal Page (EPP). The Benefits Statement is also available in the Reporting Center (RPCT). Current RPCT users will have access to this report under the Financial Reports menu, and no additional security access request is necessary.

Note: For employees whose Old-Age, Survivors, Disability Insurance (OASDI) tax contributions were deferred in Pay Periods 18-25, 2020, due to the Presidential Memorandum, OASDI Agency contributions on the Benefits Statements are understated by the amount of the employee deferred contributions. Due to the quick turnaround on the OASDI programming and the decision to zero out the OASDI wages, the contribution amounts were computed on zero wages.

Note: This only affects the Benefits Statement estimate and does not affect the actual contributions to the Social Security Administration (SSA).

About the Benefits Statement

The Benefits Statement is the annual notification of employee compensation and fringe benefits which provides employees with an estimate of their benefits relating to their current position. For employees who are retirement eligible, we suggest they contact their personnel office for a more comprehensive review of their retirement options.

The Benefits Statement describes the estimated value of benefits available to an employee or his/her survivors in the event of voluntary retirement, disability, or death in service. It also includes estimated annuity benefits and account balances from the employee's Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) account. The employee's TSP information is obtained from the TSP Record Layout provided by the Thrift Savings Plan System (TSPS) contractor. The Benefits Statement specifies when an employee will be eligible for Social Security and/or Medicare benefits and directs the employee to the SSA for more information.
