INQUIRY 20-10, IRS Form W-2c, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement Reminder

Summary
The process to issue corrections to the current year Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, begins in February for W-2s needing corrections. This process continues throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Instructions are listed below for submitting a request for an IRS Form W-2c, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement.
Implementation
The corrected W-2 process starts with the submission of a request for the adjustment through Web-based Special Payroll Processing System (SPPS Web). The following information should be considered when requesting a W-2c:
- SPPS Web adjustments must be certified.
- Form W-2c is issued within 2 weeks of the Monday following the payroll processing of the Pay Period the adjustment is completed and certified in SPPS Web.
- Processed W-2cs are available on the National Finance Center (NFC) Reporting Center (under Financial Reports) and Employee Personal Page (EPP).
