Published: December 18, 2020
Effective: January 1, 2021
The process to issue corrections to the current year's Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, begins in February. This process continues throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Instructions are listed below for submitting a request for an IRS Form W-2c, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement.
The W-2 correction process starts with the submission of a request for the adjustment through Web-based Special Payroll Processing System (SPPS Web). The following information should be considered when requesting a W-2c:
- SPPS Web adjustments must be certified.
- Form W-2c is issued within 2 weeks of the Monday following the payroll processing of the pay period the adjustment is completed and certified in SPPS Web.
- Processed W-2cs are available on the National Finance Center (NFC) Reporting Center (under Financial Reports) and the Employee Personal Page (EPP).
Employees who are not current EPP users (or who need a new user identification (ID) or password) can locate sign-up instructions under My EPP. Log on to the internet and go to the NFC Home page. Select thepage from the drop-down menu and select the icon on the HR/Payroll Application Launchpad.
A Quick Reference Card (QRC), which is available at NFC's Web site, can assist with accessing EPP, user identification availability, and password assistance.
For questions about NFC processing, authorized Servicing Personnel Office representatives should contact the NFC Contact Center ator via the customer service portal.
