Summary

The National Finance Center (NFC) has modified the Web-based Entry, Processing, Inquiry, and Correction system (EPIC Web), and EmpowHR to display a message when processing an employee change to Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) coverage.

This modification is being made in accordance with the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Benefits Administration Letter (BAL) 21-202.

A popup will appear when a Servicing Personnel Officer (SPO) processes a change of an employee's FEHB coverage.

A popup will appear when a Tribal Benefits Officer (TBO) processes a change of an enrollee's FEHB coverage.

Implementation

EmpowHR:

When saving a change on the Health Benefits page, modifications have been implemented to display the popup, Employing office must verify family member eligibility and enter information in the Remarks field including the type of document(s) examined, the issue date, and the date of the QLE (If applicable), if the following conditions are met:

When saving a change on the Health Registration Form (SF-2809) page, modifications have been implemented to display a popup, Employing office must verify family member eligibility and enter information in the Remarks field, if the following conditions are met:
